PAPO’s Young African Elephant was as big when he was born as you might expect for a baby elephant – he weighed as much as 135 kg or 300 pounds and was already almost a meter (40″) tall! He could stand almost immediately after he was born and he was walking in an hour. His coat of fuzzy hair helped to keep him cool in the hot sun, and he used smell, touch and sounds to recognize his mother.
Young African Elephant is approx. 6 cm/2.25″ tall.
