Product Description

The Arctic Fox, also known as the white fox, polar fox and snow fox, is a small fox that lives in the Arctic tundra regions of the Northern Hemisphere. It has a deep, thick fur – brown in summer and white in winter, so it can blend with its surroundings.

Arctic Foxes are 46 to 68 cm long, or 18 to 26 inches, from their noses to the tips of their tails. They eat lemmings, voles, seal pups, fish, waterfowl, and sea birds… and berries, seaweed and insects !

Arctic foxes form partnerships during the breeding season, and stay together to raise their young. They live in complex underground dens, and sometimes other family members will help to look after the pups.

The Arctic Fox lives in some of the most frigid extremes on the planet, but it doesn’t start to shiver until the temperature drops to -70 °C, or -94 °F. That’s very cold !

Arctic Fox have amazing hearing too, and they use it to hunt. They can tell exactly where a small animal is moving underneath a blanket of snow, and when they hear one, they leap high into the air and pounce, to punch through the snow and – if they’re lucky – catch their lunch.

(Arctic Fox is approx 3.5 ” long.)
